We have questioned the driver of the minibus too. He said the alcohol was to be used at a party”, a source confirmed.Reports surfacing Sunday claimed that the rank had escaped from lawful custody after he was detained, but when contacted, a senior police rank in ‘B’ Division denied knowledge of any escape, maintaining that the detainee was still in custody. Nevertheless, Guyana Times understands that the accused should not have been in Berbice in the first place, based on confirmation that his commanding officer never permitted him to leave Police headquarters in Georgetown.Investigations into the matter are continuing.last_img
