Commodity prices plunged last month AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to TwitterTwitterShare to FacebookFacebookShare to RedditRedditShare to 電子郵件Email by Mike Tarasko Posted Sep 28, 2015 7:49 am MDT Oil isn’t the only commodity getting hit hard right now.Scotiabank’s Commodity Price Index plunged to a new 10 year low in August, according to a new report. The index shed 10.5 per cent from July to sit at 91.3.That’s nearly 14 per cent below the April 2009 low during the last recession.Scotiabank’s Patricia Mohr says low prices are hitting not just oil, but agriculture, forestry and mining as well.“Which is something that I haven’t really seen for a long time — It is a testament to the fact that international, economic growth has really been very slow now for four years running,” she said.Mohr believes the index should start to recover a bit in September’s report thanks to higher oil prices, and less fear over the economy in China.
