first_img.At least 10 people were killed in clashes and firing during the parliamentary elections across the country till midday Sunday.The polls violence claimed two lives each in Chattogram and Cumilla, one each in Rangamati, Brahmanbaria, Cox’s Bazar, Rajshahi, Bogura and Narsingdi, Prothom Alo correspondents have reported from the spots.A local leader of opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Bachchu Miah, 55, was killed when a group of young men wearing helmets in Nangolkot, Cumilla attacked him with a hockey stick.In Shibpur, Narsingdi, an AL agent was killed, according to the police.A worker of ruling Awami League, Meraj Uddin, 22, was beaten to death near a polling station in Mohanpur in Rajshahi.A young man, Israel Miah, was shot dead in Rajghor village of Brahmanbraia Sadar.Another man identified as Mohammad Abdullah was killed in a clash between the supporters of the AL and the BNP in Pekua of Cox’s Bazar.A voter named Mujibur Rahman, 38, was killed when police opened fire near Belaswar Govt Primary School in Chandina of Cumilla.An activist of AL-backed Jubo League was killed in an attack allegedly by Jaamat-e-Islami activists in Patia of Chattogram.Basher Uddin, a Jubo League leader of Kaukhali in Rangamati, was killed in a clash between the AL and BNP men.Another man was killed when the opposition supporters clashed with the police in Bashkhali, Chattogram.A Juba League leader, Azizul, was killed in a clash between BNP and Awami League activists in front of the Baguil Government Primary School at Kahalu in Bogura around 11:00am.last_img
